STATEMENT OF NEED/ TARGET AUDIENCE Counseling patients on the natural history, treatment options and personal implications of the diagnosis of colorectal cancer is complex and time consuming. The many available treatment options for this disease make it a challenge for medical oncologists to explain important information to patients in an understandable manner. This CME activity focuses on the perspectives of colorectal cancer clinical investigators and patients. The goal of this activity is to help physicians better understand how to optimally discuss colorectal cancer with patients in their practices. GLOBAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES
PURPOSE OF THIS ISSUE OF PATIENTS PERSPECTIVES COLORECTAL CANCER The purpose of this issue of Patient Perspectives on Colorectal Cancer is to support these global objectives by offering the perspectives of Dr Marshall and patients with colorectal cancer on the translation and dissemination of complex information on colorectal cancer and its treatment in a format that would be helpful to patients diagnosed with the disease.
